There have been plenty of AI demos this year, and very few products that take a task all the way to done. Lumirain is an independent AI product studio — we're not betting on a smarter chatbot, but on a coworker that does the work.
There have been plenty of AI demos this year.
On stage, the models answer everything. In short videos, they spin up an article, an image, a snippet of code in seconds. But when you actually sit down to finish something real — clear a week of customer email, take a report from research to final draft, turn an idea into a working little tool — most AI stops short. It hands you some advice, a checklist, an example, and says "here's how you could do it."
The rest of the work is still yours.
The models keep getting smarter, but the products are still stuck at "you ask, it answers." Smart isn't the same as done.
We built Lumirain because that wasn't enough.
Our bet: not a better chatbot, but a coworker that does the work
The chat box has been the common denominator of human–computer interaction for a decade, but by nature it can only talk. We believe the next step isn't a more articulate assistant — it's a coworker that finishes the work for you. You hand off a sentence; it researches, acts, corrects itself, and hands back something you can actually use.
An assistant answers your questions. A coworker does your work. Those are two different things.
How we build
Four principles run through every decision we make:
- Deliver outcomes, not process. You want the thing done, not a pile of steps to follow.
- Trust grows; it isn't configured. Start with small things; earn the bigger ones.
- Complexity to the system, simplicity to people. The research, the doing, the fixing — the system carries that.
- Fewer decisions. Anything the product can judge for itself, it shouldn't hand back to you.
Our first product: your first AI coworker
Our flagship product, Interaction, arrives today. On macOS and iOS, you hand off a task in a sentence, and it researches and acts on your own device, then hands the finished result back to you — like a dependable coworker, not a "here's how you could do it" manual.
It isn't another "AI companion": a coworker is there to share the work, not to keep you company. Our mission is simple: make a coworker that genuinely gets things done something everyone can afford.
This is Lumirain's first post, and the start of our first product. There's a lot left to build — but the direction is already clear: not demos, products that get the work done.
